Which Developments are Planned for the Lafitte Greenway?
The Lafitte Greenway opened in 2015 and many new developments have become a part of the area. There are several new upgrades and developments still to come this year and next. More than five new additions are expected by the end of 2018. The Greenway itself is a high priority and here are some of the new developments expected to come before the end of 2018.
Lemann Park & Playground

Lemann Park will get an upgrade when it comes to restrooms and concessions. It will also get a new playing field with a new playground. The renovations are on the list of things that will come very soon and Mayor Mitch Landrieu expects the renovations to be done before the end of September.
Mixed-Use Development from the New Orleans Redevelopment Fund
The Redevelopment Fund broke ground on a $4 million development in April, which is scheduled to be completed sometime in 2018. This development will take over the old Times-Picayune warehouse, it will provide several office spaces to be leased to food service operators and medical practitioners.
Community Pavilion
Another priority project for 2018 is the Community Pavilion. The old brake tag station will be converted into a pavilion for the community, but doesn’t have a completion date set yet. It’s expected to be discussed with the 2018 budget.
Mixed-Use Apartment Development from Green Coast Enterprise
It’s already in the early stages and the mixed-use apartment development from Green Coast Enterprises is expected to take over an old warehouse space. It will provide 12 second-floor apartments with the ground floor being used for parking and commercial spaces.
Edwards Community Apartment Complex
Another apartment project, but much larger at 382 units, will be a part of the Lafitte Greenway developments. This project will provide 14 low-income housing options. However, no completion date has been set for the project yet.
NRPA Parks Building Community
NRPA announced they would use resources from donors to upgrade the newest on the New Orleans trail. They will be adding a new basketball court, benches, trashcans, bike racks and a community pavilion to the trail.
These developments, along with many others are expected to be completed by the end of 2018. Other developments are still in the planning stages as the Lafitte Greenway area grows.
