Upcoming Event: Cajun-Zydeco Festival

The Cajun-Zydeco Festival is just a short few days away. It will be held on June 23rd and 24th at Louis Armstrong Park from 11am to 6:30pm both days. This free event is one you won’t want to miss!

If you want to enjoy the best collection of Cajun and zydeco artists in the city, this is the place for you. It will be the 12th annual edition of the event with so much to do, you’re sure to have a great time.

Live Music

The Cajun-Zydeco Festival will include plenty of live music with a great line-up including newly-crowned Grammy winners The Lost Bayou Ramblers. They will be the headliner and Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers will also be on the schedule.

There will also be “trail ride” music including very popular choices on the bridle paths of southwest Louisiana. Enjoy all of the following at this year’s festival:

•          Chris Ardion & NuStep
•          Corey Ledet & His Zydeco Band
•          Li’l Nathan & the Zydeco Big Timers

All of these acts are very hot on the trail riding circuit and will be a part of the festival this year.

Food

Of course, there will be plenty of great food at this New Orleans festival. Since it’s the season for seafood, there will be several vendors on hand with shrimp, oysters, catfish, crab, alligator and so much more. Ten total vendors will serve up great entrees with four serving great desserts you can enjoy.

Activities for Children

This is a family-friendly event with plenty for the kids to enjoy. The Kids Tent will feature music; artisan crafts vendors, instructional workshops and so much more. You can drop your children off to enjoy supervised activities while you enjoy the festival. The Kids Tent does close at 6pm each day.

You will be able to stay cool at the Cajun-Zydeco Festival as six misting fads will be found all throughout the event area. In addition, it’s important to remember this is a free event, but donations are gratefully appreciated. The food and beverage vendors do cost money and you’re not allowed to bring outside food or beverage, except for those with special needs or dietary restrictions. This is not a pet-friendly event, either.
