The French Quarter is so full of great places to dine; it’s hard to find the right spot. The main roads are packed with restaurants. Here are some of the top choices found off the main streets.

Acme Oyster And Seafood House – 724 Iberville Street

For nearly a century, Acme has been in the French Quarter providing great choices for seafood. It’s known for the oysters, but they also serve red beans, seafood gumbo, friend seafood and jambalaya. Acme is open for lunch and dinner and it’s one of the more affordable options for seafood in the French Quarter.

This spot in the French Quarter is known for the dinner and late night service. They provide a champagne bar with plenty of sparkling wine to choose from and small-plate dining options. Effervescence is a casual spot with plenty to offer.

A causal Italian restaurant, The Italian Barrel offers fine and fresh cuisine. The dishes do have a bit of a Creole influence, but still provide a very Italian flavor. They use only the best quality food and as many local ingredients as possible here.
Palace Cafe – 605 Canal Street
A unique spot with plenty to offer, Palace Cafe offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch. They serve up Creole dishes with plenty to offer. The culinary team is even led by Chef Dustin Brien, who has been nationally recognized.
Tempt is a bistro-style place offering dinner with plenty options. It’s found inside The Saint Hotel New Orleans. The Southern-style cuisine offers a changing menu with the seasons. Tempt uses local ingredients in many of the dishes and offers an upscale bistro feel. They serve breakfast and dinner, along with room service for the hotel.
Ruby Slipper-French Quarter – 1005 Canal Street

The name was inspired by the Wizard of Oz, of course. The cafe returned to the city after Hurricane Katrina and has become the place for breakfast and lunch. They are committed to environmentally friendly business practices and have been named as one of the best places for breakfast and brunch in the entire city. There are actually four locations throughout New Orleans.
The Pelican Club – 312 Exchange Place
Found in a more quiet area of the French Quarter called Exchange Alley, The Pelican Club offers a unique menu with Louisiana cuisine and a twist of Asian cuisine. Plenty of fresh and local ingredients are found throughout the menu, along with Maine Lobster and Certified Black Angus Steaks. The walls are covered with local art and the atmosphere leans a bit towards fine dining. The Pelican Club is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Green Goddess – 307 Exchange Place
Finding the right place as Vegetarian or Vegan isn’t easy. The Green Goddess is one of the top spots for healthy food in the French Quarter. They serve both lunch and dinner with a full juice bar and so much more to offer.

It’s found in a 150-year-old Creole Cottage and offers plenty of history. The courtyard also offers a great place to dine and the restaurant’s chef, Susan Spicer, won the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Southeast in 1993.
