New Orleans is growing and plenty of developments are going to be started or completed throughout 2018. Here’s a quick look at some of the top developments expected in 2018 for New Orleans.
Robert Fresh Market – Marigny
The Robert Fresh Market broke ground in early 2017 and is expected to be delivered in early 2018. This development includes a 26,000 square foot grocery store found next to a 15,000 square foot retail parcel. It’s a $9.5 million development and will provide a major fresh-food grocery store for those living in the Bywater and Marigny neighborhoods.
Louisiana Children’s Museum – City Park

The Louisiana Children’s Museum is expected to open in 2018. This is a huge $45.5 million development found near the City Park lagoon. It covers about 8.44 acres of land and will provide a 56,400 square foot museum campus. Five indoor exhibits will be a part of the museum, along with a literacy center, outdoor cafe and a resource center.
Historic Algiers Courthouse Renovation
The City of New Orleans announced the renovations of the Historic Algiers Courthouse last April. It’s expected that some of the renovations will be completed throughout 2018 including the new slate roof, new wood decking, new metal signage and other exterior renovations. The courthouse was built in 1896 and was last renovated between 1979 and 1984.
Sazerac Company’s Beverage Museum – Central Business District
Found at 500 Canal Street, the Sazerac Company’s Beverage Museum will be a unique development with exhibits all about the history of beverages in New Orleans. The building is currently in the process of being renovated and it’s expected to be finished in 2018. The Sazerac Company will maintain the ornate columns, original wood flooring and the tall ceilings of the building.
Expansion of the Sculpture Garden – City Park

Another City Park development, the expansion of the Sculpture Garden is expected to open in late 2018. The garden project will provide a new gallery, pedestrian bridges, outdoor classroom, walkways and an amphitheater and stage. It covers about six acres and the Sydney and Walda Besthoof Sculpture Garden will continue to be free for the public.
These are just a few of the top developments expected in 2018. Many others will be popping up throughout New Orleans all year long.
