Giving back to organizations that support our community is very important for us at Rêve | Realtors. Each month, we make a donation to a non-profit organization that is close to our agents’ hearts. With hurricane season amongst us, it was crucial for us to support an organization that directly impacts disaster recovery efforts. For this reason, our July spotlight organization is SBP.

Following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Zack Rosenburg and Liz McCartney founded SBP in March of 2006. Their mission was to restore St. Bernard Parish, a parish right outside of New Orleans that was deemed 100% uninhabitable after the hurricane. Despite the inefficiency and slow process of rebuilding, the residents of this area remained optimistic they would not only rebuild their homes but their community. This inspired Zack and Liz to launch the St. Bernard Project, now known as SBP.

After the tremendous support of donors, volunteers, and corporate partners, SBP was able to help St. Bernard Parish to successfully rebuild. Since then, the organization has grown from a small three-person volunteer team into a nationwide disaster recovery corporation with over 130,000 volunteers. SBP has become a leader in the disaster relief industry and, thanks to their efforts, has been able to help over 2000 families across the world since launching in 2006.

In partnership with Toyota, SBP's latest mission is a construction project that helps to build homes below market rate with much lower subsidies than traditional affordable housing models.

Rêve is proud to have supported SBP for the month of July. Please consider supporting this fantastic organization and their amazing work.
