Upcoming Event: New Orleans Film Festival
The New Orleans Film Society will be hosting the New Orleans Film Festival from October 11th to 19th this year. This event will take over the city with plenty of great films to enjoy from shorts to documentaries to full-length features. There will even be some animation and some music videos.
What to Expect

The New Orleans Film Festival has been held for 28 years and provides some of the best films you’ll find in the area. Thousands of directors, writers, producers, actors and other professionals come to this incredible festival every year. It has even been named as one of the Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World by MovieMaker Magazine.
You may spot a celebrity as Julie Dash, Lupita Nyong’o, Jessica Biel, Sara Paulson, Justin Timberlake, Rob Reiner and Woody Harrelson, along with others, have all attended the festival in the past.
The event will feature great options in film categories, such as:
- Narrative features
- Narrative shorts
- Spotlight films
- Louisiana-made films
- Experimental films
- Animated shorts
- Documentaries
- Music Videos
- And More!
The festival will also feature panel discussions, mentor sessions and workshops all throughout the event. In addition, plenty of great food, brass bands, second lines and beads have been known to be a part of this film festival.
The Venues

Numerous venues will be holding screenings all throughout the city. You can find films at:

- Cinebarre Canal Place 9
- The Broad
- Pyrtania Theater
- Orpheum Theater

The Films

A number of films from Second Line Stages will also be a part of the festival. It’s the first independent film studio in New Orleans to be fully green and features three stages.
Tickets and Passes
A number of tickets are available for screenings and range from $5 to $25 depending on the film. Students are provided discounts and there are some screenings that are free.
Passes are also available ranging from a six film package for $55 to an all-access pass for $320. Discounts on passes are provided for NOFS Members.
