Upcoming Event: French Market Creole Tomato Festival

The French Market District will play host to the 32nd Annual Creole Tomato Festival on June 9th and 10th this year. It’s one of the most unique and most interesting events held throughout the year.

Background for the Event

Creoles are a type of succulent tomato and an essential ingredient in some of the most popular dishes from the south. For the past 32 years, the Creole Tomato Festival has been held to celebrate the tomato. It’s a chance for locals to gather together, visitors to flood in and everybody to enjoy an incredible event full of surprises.

There will be life-sized tomatoes strolling through the event, tomato shaped fans and plenty of the first tomatoes of the season getting auctioned off to local chefs.

What to Expect

The French Market Creole Tomato Festival will be filled with all kinds of things to do and enjoy. Some of the things you can expect include:

Cooking demonstrations
A Bloody Mary market
Creole Tomato Parade
A Second Line to kick off the events on Saturday
A “Best of the Fest” cooking competition
A farmers’ market
Food and Beverage booths
Live music
And More!

The food booths will offer all types of favorite dishes made with Creole tomato. These include Creole tomato Bloody Marys, fried green tomatoes, Creole tomato shrimp salad, grilled Creole tomato over Jasmine rice and much more.

The music and entertainment has yet to be announced.

Event Details

The French Market Creole Tomato Festival will be held in the French Market District from St. Peter to Barracks. It will start at 10am on Saturday and finish up at 7pm on Sunday. The event will be held on June 9th and 10th and admission is free.

Parking for the event can be found at the Riverside Parking Lot behind the Market and Dutch Alley. In addition, the event will be held within walking distances from all area streetcar stops and major attractions.
