Shopping in New Orleans provides many unique place to find all kinds of things. It’s not all about the common malls or the chain stores. However, when you need a bit of retail therapy, there are still some great malls found throughout New Orleans.
In New Orleans, shopping is more than just heading to the local store, however. Many of the top collections of shops provide incredible riverfront views, amazing art and plenty of relevance to the area’s culture. You actually have to go outside of the city a bit to find more traditional malls and department stores.

Oakwood Center
Found in Gretna, this shopping center offers plenty of mainstream options. It has a ton of parking, compared to other options and it’s less crowded. The mall offers large department stores, such as Dillard’s JCPenney and Sears. In addition, you’ll find shops, such as Journeys, Footlocker, ADLO, Forever 21 and many others here.
Elmwood Center
It’s not a mall, but it provides a great collection of stores to enjoy. The Elmwood Center offers big box retailers, boutiques and more. Some of the biggest names found here include Big Lots, Old Navy, Marshall’s and Best Buy. In addition, you can enjoy plenty of national and regional restaurants, such as Theo’s Pizza.
This shopping center is found closer to downtown New Orleans than some of the others on the list. It also includes a movie theater and plenty of other restaurants nearby.
Shops at Jax Brewery
A very popular place to shop in New Orleans, Jax Brewery offers plenty of options. The building was a brewing facility, which opened in 1891. It was one of the largest in the south and today the four floors are filled with shops, boutiques and cafes.

Maybe the best shopping option near New Orleans, The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk offers a well-designed and remodeled spot for shopping. It’s found in the heart of downtown and provides easy access to the French Quarter and the Convention Center. Discount parking is found nearby and plenty of great brands are found here at a discount, too.
You will enjoy shopping at Forever 21, Kenneth Cole, Coach, Neiman Marcus Last Call and Coach. Plenty of other outlet shops are also found here.
Lakeside Shopping Center
It may not be a mall, but this shopping center offer over 120 stores to choose from. It’s filled with some of the best well-known options in the nation including Dillard’s, Gap, Eddie Bauer, Old Navy and more. The center also offers plenty of boutiques and all kinds of restaurants are found nearby.
North Shore Square Mall
The drive is beautiful to get to North Shore Square Mall and worth it, if you love shopping. With more than 600,000 square feet of retail space, you will find just about everything you want here. Shops include Victoria’s Secret, Burlington Coat Factory, Dillard’s, The Limited, Express and so many more.
This is also a great place if you have kids because they offer mini-golf, photo booths and rides. There’s something for everybody here and the drive isn’t so bad from New Orleans.

The Shops at Canal Place
An upscale option for those seeking luxury shopping, The Shops at Canal Place offers a large variety of boutiques. If you’re searching for top brands, this is the place to go. Shops include Saks 5th Ave, Tiffany, Ann Taylor, Brooks Brothers and many more.
You will also find local jewelers here, such as RHINO and Mignon Faget. There’s an upmarket movie theater with reserved seating and dining options, along with plenty more to enjoy. It’s also found near the Aquarium and Harrah’s.
