New Orleans Has been Ranked as One of the Top Cities in the United States
Travel + Leisure Magazine ranked New Orleans as the fourth best city in the United States. This was based on scores from readers on cuisine, culture, friendliness, landmarks and the value of the city.
The booming entertainment scene was a big part of the overall score for the city as it beat out many other popular places, such as Nashville, TN. New Orleans scored an 89.15 out of 100, which was only 2.39 behind the winner; Charleston, SC. New Orleans was ranked as the highest on the list when it came to food and celebrations.

New Orleans started to attract more people and gain more profits from tourism than it had in the past last year. Hurricane Katrina hurt the city’s tourism revenue, but it has come back very strong. In 2016, New Orleans saw more than 10 million visitors, who spent over $7.4 billion.
The festivals, the great food and the incredible atmosphere has started to draw more people to the city than in years past. New Orleans beat out many major U.S. cities and ranked higher than it has on this list in a very long time. Tourists are staying longer and spending more money than they did in past years, too.
Those at the top of this list had many things in common including playing host to many huge festivals. New Orleans is the top choice when it comes to events with Mardi Gras, French Quarter Festivals, Wine & Food events, Jazz Fest and many more. Some of the most inventive chefs are also found in New Orleans including Zachary Engel, a James Beard Foundation Rising Star Chef of the Year.
As one of the top southern hot spots, it seems like New Orleans is not only back, but it’s becoming a top destination for many.
